Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 3, 2026
This policy describes the ORWELL Today website and iOS and Android apps, provided by Atlantium AI, St. Petersburg, Florida, USA. For privacy questions or requests, email Info@atlantiumai.com.
Your questions go to AI providers. ORWELL uses OpenAI, Anthropic and xAI to generate and synthesize answers. Optional web research shares your question or derived search terms with research services.
Signed-in answers are saved privately. Guest questions are not saved to an ORWELL history account. Provider processing and technical records are separate from saved history.
Voice is optional. Recorded audio goes to OpenAI for transcription; answer text goes to xAI for Rex playback. You can use text without granting microphone access.
1. Information we process
- Account information: email address, account identifiers, profile information you provide and authentication/session information handled through Clerk. Our app uses your account identifier to connect your allowance and private history across devices.
- Questions and answers: questions you submit, generated answers, model perspectives and source links. Signed-in users' saved records also include titles and timestamps.
- Optional audio: microphone recordings for transcription, transcripts, answer text for speech generation and temporary playback audio.
- Usage and technical information: query counts, plan and billing-period information, request timing, errors, IP-derived usage identifiers and browser/device/session information needed to operate and protect the service. Our hosting and other service providers may receive IP addresses and other connection metadata.
- Subscription information: Stripe customer and subscription references, plan/status and billing-period information for website subscriptions. Payment card entry is handled by Stripe; ORWELL's own checkout integration does not store full card numbers or card security codes.
- Support communications: information you include when contacting us. Please do not email passwords, authentication codes or full payment-card details.
2. Why we use information
We use this information to answer questions, research and cite sources, provide optional voice features, authenticate accounts, save private history, apply query allowances, recognize subscriptions, prevent misuse, troubleshoot failures and respond to support or privacy requests. We may also use or retain information where needed to comply with law or protect the service and its users.
Do not submit confidential information or personal information about yourself or others that you do not want processed by these services. AI answers can be inaccurate and may include personal information that needs correction or removal.
3. AI providers and web research
Submitting a question sends its text to OpenAI (ChatGPT), Anthropic (Claude) and xAI (Grok) for processing. Providers may also receive retrieved evidence, model responses and answer text needed to synthesize a response. A provider may be unavailable on a particular request.
When live web research is enabled, your question or derived search terms are sent to research/search services. ORWELL may retrieve pages and market information from third-party websites. These services receive the information needed for those requests and may receive connection metadata. You can turn live web research off before submitting a question; this does not turn off AI-provider processing.
Providers have their own retention, security and data-use practices, which depend on their policies, service settings and applicable agreements. We do not promise that third parties never retain submitted data or use it for model improvement. See the privacy information from OpenAI, Anthropic and xAI.
4. Microphone, transcription and voice playback
In the mobile app, recording starts only after the in-app recording agreement and your device's microphone permission. Recordings are limited to approximately 60 seconds. Audio is sent to OpenAI for transcription through ORWELL's server. A transcript is placed in the question field for review; you still press Ask ORWELL to submit the question.
For a microphone-originated question, synthesized answer text is sent to xAI for Rex speech generation and the resulting audio is played on your device. Typed questions and reopened saved answers do not automatically play. Your browser or operating system may handle speech features differently; its permissions and privacy settings also apply.
ORWELL processes uploaded recordings transiently and does not intentionally keep a server-side recording archive or save audio in question history. Mobile recording and playback files use temporary device storage and are designed to be removed after use or cancellation. A crash or interruption may leave temporary cache files until later app or system cleanup. Cancelling cannot retract data already received by a provider; provider retention is separate. Revoke microphone permission in device or browser settings whenever you wish.
5. Cookies, local storage and guest allowances
The website uses authentication/session storage and an essential signed visitor cookie to operate accounts and free allowances. The visitor cookie may last up to one year unless cleared earlier. Native authentication tokens use device-protected storage; the app also holds working data and temporary audio locally.
For guest query limits and misuse prevention, ORWELL derives monthly keyed identifiers from a visitor token and network IP address. These usage records use keyed hashes rather than a raw IP address. They are pseudonymous, not a guarantee of anonymity. Shared networks can share allowance limits. Hosting or infrastructure logs may still contain connection metadata.
Clearing cookies, signing out or revoking permissions can change how features work and does not necessarily erase account records or provider records. No advertising SDK or cross-app advertising tracker is integrated into the ORWELL app.
6. Service providers, payments and other sharing
In addition to the AI/research services above, ORWELL relies on Clerk for authentication, Replit and its infrastructure services for hosting and application storage, and Stripe for website checkout, billing and subscription synchronization. These services process information necessary to perform their functions under their own terms and applicable agreements.
Other recipients can include service providers helping us address a support request, authorities when legally required, parties needed to investigate fraud or protect rights, and advisers or successors involved in a business transfer subject to applicable law. Following a source link or third-party payment page takes you to a service whose privacy practices we do not control.
This policy does not mean native App Store or Google Play purchasing is currently enabled. If store purchases are introduced, the relevant store and payment disclosures must reflect that processing.
7. Retention
- Saved history: kept in your account until you delete individual entries or your account. Guest questions are not saved to an ORWELL history account, but are still processed to answer the request.
- Account, usage and subscription references: kept to operate the account, manage allowances and recognize subscriptions; account-linked records are removed through the account-deletion process described below.
- Guest and transcription counters: use time-based windows. Guest monthly records generally retain the current and preceding month; older records are eligible for cleanup when the service is used. Transcription counters have shorter expiry windows and a cleanup buffer. Cleanup is activity-triggered rather than a promise of deletion at an exact time.
- Audio: transient processing and temporary device storage as described above, not saved-history retention.
- Technical/support and third-party records: may be retained as needed for operations, security, responding to requests and legal obligations. Providers, financial records and backups have separate retention; deletion from active ORWELL storage does not guarantee immediate erasure from every such system.
8. Access, deletion and other choices
Signed-in users can view, rename and delete individual saved answers. To delete an account in the mobile app, open Account → Delete account, type DELETE and confirm. Alternatively, follow the public account-deletion instructions and contact us from the address associated with the account. We verify ownership before acting on an email request.
Account deletion removes the sign-in account, saved history and account-linked ORWELL usage/billing references. It cancels owned ORWELL website subscriptions immediately and expires pending checkouts, without an automatic refund. A provider failure can leave deletion partially completed; retry or contact us if completion is not confirmed. Stripe may retain transaction records required for financial or legal purposes.
A keyed account identifier is retained to prevent still-valid deleted sessions from recreating account data. Separate pseudonymous anti-abuse counters expire under their own cleanup rules. Deleting an account does not automatically delete information already held by independent providers.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, receive a copy of, delete or restrict use of your information, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent where applicable. Send requests to Info@atlantiumai.com. Rights and exceptions depend on applicable law, and we may request information needed to verify your identity. You may also contact your local privacy regulator where applicable.
9. Security and international processing
ORWELL uses HTTPS and account-based access controls for private saved history. No system can guarantee complete security. Information may be processed in the United States and other locations where our providers operate; privacy protections may differ from those in your location. Applicable provider agreements and legal requirements govern those transfers.
10. Children
ORWELL is a general-purpose AI service, not designed for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through ORWELL, contact us so we can review and address it, including deletion where appropriate.
11. Policy changes and contact
We may update this policy as the service or legal requirements change. The date above identifies the latest revision. Material changes requiring additional notice or consent will be handled as required by applicable law.
